As a parent and especially a father, I love the idea of extending a blessing upon our children particularly on special occasions. For my daughter’s birthday this year, I sought out a birthday blessing for a child that I could use during the day. Any of these prayers could work as a blessing to start the day, to pray before dinner or cake, or to offer at the end of the day before bedtime. Or, if the day becomes a little too crazy and you forget to find a moment to pray the blessing over your child, say the prayer silently to yourself before the day is through.
