Happy Money Book Summary

By Jared Dees

Happy Money by Laura Buenostar is a book I’ve had on my Amazon wishlist for a number of years. It is a very short, $0.99 eBook with a compelling take-away: a 2-step formula for money.

The Happy Money Method is:

Step 1: Give

Give money anonymously to others.

Specifically, write a blessing on five one-dollar bills and leave them in public places.

Leave the money in a park, public restroom, church, school, restaurant, grocery store, etc.

Step 2: Receive

Receive money and abundance from others.

Here Buenostar points out the many psychological blocks we have to receiving money in abundance.

She points out how many of us don’t make more money because of limiting beliefs and self-worth issues.

Does it work?

The book is very short. So short that I think the reader needs more time with a book like this to believe in the process. More case studies are needed to show how this process really does work.

What Buenostar does well, though, is show that our mindset around money makes a difference. If we recognize that money needs to move and we make it move by giving it away, then money will be returned back to us.

When she shares a prayer to the “money spirit,” she almost lost me. I think there is an opportunity to explore these principles from a Christian perspective in more detail.

If you look at the process as a way to reprogram our relationship with money, then the process could work tremendously.

Generosity begets generosity.

The only way to know if this works is to try it. I look forward to putting this into practice and seeing what happens.
