It was the state championship game and the head coach was as ready as he would ever be. He had spent many sleepless nights in preparation for the game. He was tired but confident in the plans he had made for the game. He knew they could win.
Then something unfortunate and unexpected happened. His star player, the quarterback, injured his leg on the first play of the game.
The entire game plan was built around this star player. Those plans had to be completely set aside.
Now, he had nothing. He had to change his plans on the spot.
He said a prayer. He knew the game wasn’t in his hands anymore. He thanked God for the opportunity to be there and asked him for some guidance and inspiration.
The team played spectacularly. The backup quarterback did his job to the best of his ability.
The team won despite the unexpected change of plans.
“The human mind plans the way, but the LORD directs the steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)
