Prayer Before Work

Work seems to dominate the time of our daily lives. Why not dedicate this time to God with a short prayer before work starts? Set yourself reminders before work begins to pray for God’s assistance and to thank him for the gifts you have been given and the call to do the work you were meant to do.

A Prayer Before Work

Holy God,
You made me in your image and likeness to be a steward of your creation.
I embrace the gifts you have given me and vow to use them today to serve you and others through the work that I do.
Bless my work, Lord.
Amen.

Short Prayer Before Work

Lord,
Your great work is apparent throughout the world.
I offer you my time time in service to you.
Bless the work I do and make it a vehicle for your will.
Amen.

Prayer Before Work You Dislike

Lord,
Though I dislike this work,
I recognize the gift of your cross and will carry my own cross today.
Sanctify me through the hard work that I endure.
Protect me from the temptation of evil.
Through Christ our Lord,
Amen.

A Catholic Prayer Before Work: Actiones Nostras

Father,
may everything we do
begin with your inspiration
and continue with your saving help.
Let our work always find its origin in you
and through you reach completion.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Brother Lawrence Prayer Before Work

O God, since you are with me, and it is your will that I should now apply myself to the work before me this day, I ask you to assist me with your grace, that I may continue in your presence. And to this end, O Lord, be with me in my work, accept the labor of my hands, and dwell in my heart with all your fullness.
