A “Praying the Angelus” Book Club

By Jared Dees

prayingtheangelus-coverI’m very excited that Praying the Angelus has been selected by the St. Teresa’s Online Book Club as their featured book for the months of May and June 2017. Nearly 1,000 people will be participating in this online discussion (and you can too).

I invite you to join us in reading and praying the Angelus (and Regina Caeli)!

Join the Club! Here’s Why:

Here are three reasons to join in this online book club:

1. Two or More Are Gathered

Jesus said:

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20)

Well that works online, too. You can scan through the discussions and inspirational meditations from past book clubs in the group to the get the idea about how it works (request to join here). You can gather together, read, and share your experiences with other people like you on the Internet . . . and Jesus will be there among us.

2. Pick an Easter & Month of Mary Devotion

How’s your Easter going? Lent is over and if you are like me, you are starting to miss those extra spiritual commitments you made during Lent. Why not try the Regina Caeli and the Angelus as new devotions for yourself and your family?

May is the Month of Mary and the perfect time to add a little more Marian devotion into your life? The book club can help you start (or take up again) this new devotion.

3. Support a Charity Named After the Virgin Mary

Two of the people behind the book club are friends and authors of Divine Mercy for Moms (and the forthcoming book, The Friendship Project). I was very moved by their support for a Mary’s Meals—a charity providing meals in schools to kids in developing countries. Michele and Emily are donating a portion of their royalties for their first book to this charity.

I want to do my part, too, so I am going to donate $1.00 for every book purchased by book club participants.

You can buy the book at Ave Maria Press for 20% OFF using the promo code ANGELUSCLUB or get your copy on Amazon and let me know you are participating in the club.

How to Participate in the Book Club

Here is how to participate in this online book club:

  1. Request to join the St. Teresa’s Online Book Club group here.
  2. Purchase the book, Praying the Angelus, at Ave Maria Press (promo code: ANGELUSCLUB), Amazon, or wherever books are sold.
  3. Follow the weekly reading plan starting on May 15th.
  4. Like, comment, and engage in the posts about the book.
  5. Participate in the Friday discussions with me and the rest of the book club participants.

Every Friday I am going to jump into the group, talk about the reading plan for the week, and then answer any questions people may have about the book, about the Regina Caeli or the Angelus, or about Catholic prayer in general.

On Friday, May 5, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. EDT, I’ll be in the group for a short, live “Meet the Author” video to invite people to participate in the book club. The club will begin reading the book on May 15th so order your book now!

I hope you will join me and many others in this book club for the next few weeks.
