A Sneaky & Effective Way to Find Your Audience on Instagram

By Jared Dees

If you are trying to grow your audience on Instagram, then you know how important it is to engage with people using hashtags.

Many people may not realize this, but there is a certain kind of hashtag that has the most active Instagram users will post to and search for.

I first read about it in this post by Jenn Herman: 3 Fool Proof Ways to Grow Your Instagram Following.

Event Hashtags!

I love this idea.

It works great, of course, when you are actually at the event where people in your audience are present.

The best part about this tactic is that you don’t have to be there to engage.

I have a family. I can’t make it to every event.

I can, however, engage with people who are at events I would like to attend and live vicariously through their experiences, connecting with them on ideas and information we value most.

Ask yourself:

What conferences or live events are people in your potential audience attending?

What hashtag (if any) are they using to post about the event?

Then:

Search for these event hashtags and start adding valuable information and questions to the posts of people that are there.
