A young girl was finally allowed to create an account on social media. Her parents asked her older sister to help her setup an account. They wanted their youngest daughter to fit in and make friends with the other girls at school.
The older sister helped the young girl get set up on the website and create an account.
“Now it is time to create your first post,” said the older sister.
“I am so excited,” said the young girl.
“What do you want to post about?” her sister asked.
The girl thought for a moment, then she started to type. She wrote about how much God loved her and how she loved him back. It was a very honest and heartfelt post to share.
Before the sister could stop her, the young girl clicked publish.
“What was that?” asked the older sister.
“What do you mean?” said the young girl.
“That’s not the kind of thing you share with people online,” said the older sister.
“Why not?” asked the girl.
“Because people won’t follow you. They won’t like your posts. They will ignore you, or worse, make fun of you for posting stuff like that. Delete the post quickly before someone sees it.”
“No,” said the girl. “I absolutely won’t do that.”
“Why not?” asked her sister. “What if people don’t like you?”
The girl thought for a moment. “No big deal,” she said.
“I want to make God happy. Who cares if kids don’t like my post because of that?”
They looked back at the computer and saw that the post had gotten its first like. Then another one, and another.
This made the older sister think for a moment about the kinds of things she was posting. She decided to follow her younger sister’s example and post more things that would make God happy, without worrying what other people think.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
