It is funny how we overlook so many things that we do by habit throughout the day. When someone sneezes, I usually say, “God bless you” or “Bless you,” unless someone beats me to it first. You probably do it too.
How many times have you actually asked God to bless the person who sneezed? I mean really prayed for God’s blessing?
Up to this point, I have never meant it. Saying “God bless you” is polite and that is about as far as I have ever taken it. I want to add some intentionality to it.
Here is my “God bless you” challenge to myself and you:
Next time someone sneezes, say “God bless you” out loud and in your head actually ask for God to bless that person. If you know them well enough, ask for as specific intention.
Then do it a second time, and a third, and forth, etc.
Make this habit a prayerful one.
Say it and mean it.
